Re-Model, building materials, exhibition hall, Fresnel light, installation views 1-7, 2011.

‘Re-Model’ was a site-specific installation produced in Sofia (Bulgaria) that remarked upon the redevelopment of the Central Mineral Bathhouse as a city museum and its temporary designation as an exhibition site during the festival. I produced a model of the building’s Vienna Secession-style exterior out of rubble discarded during the building’s re-development within a large hall inside the building that developers had recently re-purposed as a white cube gallery. I projected a single Fresnel light over the model producing a silhouette of the building’s façade onto these freshly painted white walls. The work foregrounded the building’s original Art Nouveau exterior and new white cube interior as significant aspects of the re-development.
